Timothy Olyphant joined a host of other celebrities playing in the Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro Celebrity Tennis Classic in Florida. The celebs teamed up with pros in a series of matches over the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd.
Other celebrities participating included Gavin Rossdale, David Cook,Hota Kotb, Gayle King, Jon Lovitz and Maeve Quinlan. Tennis pros included Cliff Drysdale, Patrick McEnroe, Darren Cahill,Sebastian Grosjean and Brenda Schultz-McCarthy.
The games began with a rain delay of an hour and a half. This gave the celebrities time to pose with fans and take selfies!
The event had a festive atmosphere. It featured pony rides and food vendors.
Olyphantwas teamed with pro Vince Spadea, an eighteen year ATP career veteran.
“Playing with the legends is a thrill,” Olyphantsaid.
Fans come for the humorous banter between the players. It is really not to see the tennis match but the interaction between the players.
Olyphant, always quick with the wisecrack, told the opposition through his microphone, “I like the way you guys start. You don’t want to hurt yourselves.”
The event raised $700,000 for the Drug Abuse Foundation in Delray Beach. Through a partnership with the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida the charity aids Place of Hope, Families First, the Caring Foundation and others.
Other weekend fundraisers held in conjunction with the Tennis Classic took place at the Boca Raton Resort and Club. The Saturday nigh gala featured a performance by the Temptations.
