Justified Final Season Episode 12 Collateral Review. Haven’t seen it yet? Watch it here
I apologize for the late post this week. I have been involved in organizing a basketball
event for the community. The planning has taken months and last Friday the event
finally took place. It was quite enjoyable and was a great success. So now I am
finally getting to my review of “Collateral”.

This episode is all about leading us to the Raylan and Boyd showdown. Ava is out of optionsand is running without a plan. Vasquez is sending the FBI after Raylan. Art is out looking for his rogue marshal before Vasquez gets wind of his recent escapades
Boon ambushes Loretta and her ex boyfriend in a
barn. He shoots the boyfriend. Markham then shows up and brutally finishes
the job. Loretta then offers to join up with him if he spares her life.
Markham agrees.

This episode seems to want to show the real Boyd. I believe the writers
have purposefully shown Boyd’s ruthless side this season. They have
spent 5 seasons turning him into some kind of outlaw folk hero. Now
they have to show people his true colors so as not to upset fans too
much at his demise.
Boyd has murdered his man, Carl, in a cold hearted manner. He shoots
Carl to Boyd create a diversion for his getaway from the hospital. He
then impersonates a policeman in order to hijack a man in a pickup truck.
He later shoots the man in the head when he dislikes what the
man has to say about him.

In the meantime, Raylan, finds Zachariah in Grubes cabin.
Ava is not there. After seeing Zachariah is of no use to him Raylan continues
his hunt for Boyd.
Boyd also finds Zachariah in the cabin. He shoots
Zachariah in the leg and demands to know what has happened to Ava and
the money. Zachariah’s reply is a bomb strapped to the inside of his coat.
Unfortunately he only manages to blow himself up.

Constable Bob discovers Raylan has stolen his car, so he takes off
after him using the GPS system in the stolen car. He not only
finds the car, he finds Ava attempting to steal the car Raylan
has abandoned.
He arrests her and puts her in his Gremlin. They hear gunshots and
against Ava’s pleas for Bob not to leave her handcuffed to the car,
Bob goes off to investigate. She manages to break free after he leaves.
She is later apprehended by Markham’s crooked policeman.

Cuddle up with Raylan in this cool Raylan Blanket Throw
Boyd is walking through the woods when a shot rings out by him. He
calls to Raylan that he is shooting at him unprovoked. He asks
how Raylan knew he wasn’t a boy scout going to his tent. Raylan
replies that his teeth glow in the dark.
The two exchange gunfire for a while. All the time they are having
their typical Raylan and Boyd banter. Boyd tell Raylan if he kills
him then Boyd will have won. On this point I agree. If Raylan kills
Boyd vigilante style then he has lowered himself to the likes of his prey.

During their exchange, Raylan hears a cry in the distance. Boyd tells
him he has shot Bob, noting he might still be alive.
This is where we see the difference between Raylan and Boyd. Raylan lets
Boyd go in order to help Bob. Raylan has a moral code, Boyd does not.
Raylan rushes Bob to the hospital even though he knows it will probably
be the end of his quest for Ava and Boyd. That is indeed the case as
two officers approach him as Bob is wheeled away. “Are you Raylan Givens?”
“Would you believe me if I said no?” And so ends episode 12.
I have read some fans believe Boon will kill Raylan. If that is so,it would be
the biggest cheatin television history. We have spent 6 seasons watching
the build up to the Raylan and Boyd faceoff.
If some random last minute character comes in and kills
the hero of the show, it will tarnish the show’s legacy and make a
mockery of the story.
I despise the Boon character. He is cartoonish. Like Dastardly
Dan tying poor Penelope Pitstop to the railroad tracks. I am
surprised he doesn’t twirl his moustache. I tend to believe
Raylan will disavow him of his idea that is the unbeatable
quick draw artist.

I think the whole thing will come full circle.
The last scene will be the showdown between Raylan, Boyd and Ava.
It will be just like the pilot episode in Ava’s kitchen. Only this
time someone will die. I personally believe that someone will be Boyd.
I think Ava will be forced to pick her side, Raylan or Boyd and that
choice will determine who lives and who dies.
I don’t believe Boyd can walk away here. He is a ruthless, cold blooded
murderer. I don’t see Boyd not getting his retribution. But then
again I am not always right. One of my favorite lines Art to Tim,
“I am out here scouring the countryside for dumbass.”
